1. INSTALLATION
----------------

FRAD/Talk is a DOS application. It should not be installed from
a DOS shell or a DOS window in Windows 3.1. On Windows 95, install from
DOS-only mode. To run this under Windows 95, you will need 16MB of RAM.

To start the installation, place the disk labeled "FRAD/Talk" in Drive A:,
change to Drive A: and type INSTALL. (A: is used in this example but
B: will work as well).

> A:
> INSTALL

INSTALL works on hard disks only. The INSTALL program will guide you
through the installation process.

Note that the install process does not alter your AUTOEXEC.BAT or
CONFIG.SYS files. For convenience, you may wish to add the
directory that FRAD/Talk was installed in to your PATH statement.

When installation is complete, change your default directory to be the
directory where FRAD/Talk was installed (default is C:\FRADTALK). Enter

> FRADTALK

to start the application.

Once you have connected to a Node, please note that
the default password for a factory-fresh unit is "IBM".
It must be entered in upper case.

3. KNOWN ANOMALIES IN THIS RELEASE
-----------------------------------

* The FRAD/Talk installation process determines the available
free disk space on all drives. The installation process
will hang up on a CD ROM drive that does not have a CD ROM
in the drive. The work-around is to put a CD ROM in the drive
so that the installation process can move past it.

* The FRAD/Talk NMS pop-up menu will allow you to send a DISABLE
command to the LAN port, but the Node will reject the command,
   as it should.

* When performing a software upgrade with the Install feature under the
Transfer menu, if the error message, "INSTALL ABORTED Unable to
Open File: SNACTALK.REL", appears, then use the Change Directory
feature to make the directory where FRAD/Talk was installed the
   current directory.

* If you are trying to perform a file transfer and it fails with
the error message, "Out of System Buffers", wait a few seconds, then
try the file transfer operation again.

* If a file transfer terminates abruptly because of a network
problem, the error message, "Command Tag Error", may display.
Wait a few seconds, then try the file transfer operation again.
